Photoriffic Monday! Today's DAILY PUPPY FIX features a photo a day from Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as a blast from the past so you can compare then-and-now to see how the babies are growing so far.

* In Friday's picture ("big-in-box") you can see the size of the puppies on Friday when they were in their cardboard holding box (necessary confinement while breeder Chris Rasmussen cleaned their whelping box). Compare this photo to "allfour," taken on the day the puppies were born.

* In Saturday's photo, "heads-together," you'll see the sibling bonding that is already occuring at this young age.

* The biggest news of the weekend is that on Sunday, the little boy opened his eyes (see "noahjr"). The others are surely close behind, which means your DAILY PUPPY FIX content is about to get a heck of a lot more exciting and adorable.

Today's issue of DAILY PUPPY FIX goes right on ahead and assumes that everyone likes more than one picture, and includes three photos so you can see each of the puppies up close. Perhaps it was that the camera was particularly active last night. Perhaps it was that these darned puppies are just getting more and more precious and it's too hard to pick just one photo to send. Perhaps it's a vast [insert political movement of your choice here]-wing conspiracy. Regardless, management is welcome to feedback if recipients want just one photo a day.

Puppy tidbits:
* All eyes are open now (Fawn was a bit of a straggler, but had one and a half of her lids sleepily propped open at goodbyes this morning).
* Brindle Girl, aka Beegee, is a prolific kisser already! Maybe she likes the taste of people faces.
* Roo and Brindle Boy, aka Beebee, have no news to report but remain absolutely darling. They, like their sisters, are becoming quite the little ambulatory beasts, swaggering around their pen like drunken sailors.

Puppy caregiver quote of the day: "P-freakin'-U!" (during potty time)

Wednesday, May 7 (16 days old)
Something happened yesterday, and I cannot explain it because I did not take most of yesterday's pictures, but little Roo, the red puppy, the smallest puppy, the sweetest little thing you ever did see, is in the vast majority of the photos from May 6, 2003. So today I am introducing a new feature called "SPOTLIGHT ON" and in this issue we have Spotlight On: Roo.

* In "dreaming of poachers," you can tell from the furrowed brows that Roo and Beebee (the Brindle Boy) are strategizing about how to deal with the bullmastiff's biggest enemy: The Poacher. Although we do not keep game on our estate, these puppies take their breeding history very seriously.
* In "roo and brindles," you can see three of the four of the little angels in a stark photographic unveiling of what these puppies spend the vast majority of their days doing at this point. But! We can see the glint in their eyes, now that they're open. Chaos is just around the corner.
* In the "roo and mom" pairing, see Roo at rest with her mommy, and also checking out her mother's flews in a clear display of respect and admiration. (Mother's Day is on the way, after all.)

Today we have some fascinating news to report: The puppies are playing together! It is hilarious to see them pawing each other and using their little mouths to brutally gum each other on the ears and face. Just wait until the teeth come in.

In celebration of the happy news, you'll find "fawn-bb-play5," the best of several attempts to photograph the interactions we were able to witness last night. We expect things will get much more exciting.

Also in this issue of DAILY PUPPY FIX:

* Breeder Loves Baby: Break out the "awwwwws" for the photo of litter breeder Chris Rasmussen cuddling with little Roo.
* Clean-Up Time: Breeder Rasmussen prides herself on keeping a sparkling clean whelping box, and this "pen-cleaning" photo shows the neverending process in the works - but also captures a puppy up walking about! They're getting steadier on their little feet and less drunken-sailor-like.
* Abstract Art: In "fawn-pants," the beautiful Fawn girl poses for this Andy Warholesque shot that frames her against the figurative vast expanse that is her wide-open future. Watch for this to hang in NYC's Museum of Modern Art soon.

Today we focus on two themes: 1) Togetherness and 2) Freaky Artistic Close-Ups.

In "brindles-playplease," the boy is trying to get the girl to loosen up and engage in a little paw-and-gum activity. She wants nothing of it, and is doing a typical bullmastiff move of resting her weary head on a flat surface. Little Fawn is snoozing underneath the white railing behind them.

Also on our Togetherness theme, in "fawn-n-roo" we see Fawn exercising the aforementioned bullmastiff headrest maneuver at the expensive of Roo's comfort. Roo seems not to mind a bit, though.

Finally, forgive the file size of "collage," but it was the best way I knew to highlight some of the fun "ground photos" from last night - where we put the camera on the ground at puppy level and see what comes of it, a technique perfected by Breeder Chris Rasmussen.

In other news: DAILY PUPPY FIX goes online! You can see many of the past issues at www.exlibrisbullmastiffs.com/puppy_fix.html, with all due mutual admiration to Web Goddess Chris Rasmussen, who made this silly little e-mail project look so pretty on her official kennel site.
